Media Releases 2013|

For a week, Joburg turns up the heat and entertainment fills its Inner City streets. The Joburg City Festival features everything from street soccer and night-time cycling to foodie experiences, walking tours, rooftop parties and ballet performances.

The streets of the inner-city will vibrate with excitement during the Joburg City Festival, running from 25 to 31 August.

Tourism establishments in Joburg’s Inner City are working together to present a comprehensive set of activities – from street soccer and night-time cycling to foodie experiences, walking tours, rooftop parties and ballet performances. The comprehensive programme is available on the Joburg City website.

Bookings and ticket sales for specific events are handled by the individual venues. Be sure to book quickly, before events are sold out. But not all events come at a cost; Joburgers and visitors to the city are welcome to enjoy the daily street soccer on Gandhi Square, as well as the Critical Mass cycling event on Friday, 30 August, free of charge.

Getting to the Joburg City Festival is as simple as hopping on the Gautrain and then on to a Gautrain or Rea Vaya bus. Or park at one of the designated parking areas outside the Inner City and take a shuttle car or tuk tuk to a festival destination. Details are available on Joburg City.

in a hotel is another option, and there is a whole gamut of exclusive hotels to choose from in the Inner City. Most offer trendy and comfortable accommodation near some of the city’s best arts, culture, heritage and entertainment establishments. This way, it is possible to experience Joburg magic at its best. Festival accommodation providers include the easyHotel, Protea Hotel Parktonian, the Reef Hotel, StayCity and Urban Hip Hotels (Ashanti & 12 Decades). Details are available on Joburg City.
