The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) has completed the remedial works at Orchards Clinic in Orange Grove after construction was suspended earlier this year, following allegations of structural under-design by the appointed engineer.
A new engineer was appointed to the project to create a design solution for construction as a corrective measure. The strengthening of the structure began in February 2018 with additional steal support added to the building structure to create the desired support.
“Our construction team has been working tirelessly to ensure that the structure complies with the new structural design. We have added additional steel beams and columns throughout the building to create a stronger structure and we are confident that the construction of the clinic can now continue” says JDA Chief Executive, Christo Botes.
Remedial works at Orchards Clinic are now complete and construction is due to start again in mid-October 2018. Due to the remedial works, Orchards Clinic is now anticipated to be completed early 2019.
Statement ends.
