The City of Johannesburg is implementing the Rea Vaya BRT between the inner city of Johannesburg, Alexandra and Sandton as part of a broader process of transforming public transport, walking and cycling in the City.

Members of the public are invited to a public meeting to get information about and give feedback on:

  • Proposed integrated public transport, walking and cycling plan for Sandton which has been developed by the Sandton Central CID in consultation with key stakeholders including the City of Johannesburg;
  • Rea Vaya BRT construction progress;
  • Proposed public transport priority from Sandton to Randburg route along Sandton Drive, William Nicol and Republic Road;
  • Proposal for Sandton to be the host site for a month long International Eco-Mobility Festival in October 2015.

The City of Johannesburg will explain these transport plans as well as planning and implementation timelines. There will be an opportunity to interact with City officials; ward councillors and the professionals that are working on the said plans.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 8 October at 6pm at the Grayston Preparatory School, on the corner of North Road and Gillard Street, Sandton.
