The Johannesburg Development Agency’s inner city Metro Park was recently recognised as an outstanding example of design in the construction industry by the South African Landscapers Institute.
The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) is pleased to announce that the inner city Metro Park has been recognised by the South African Landscapers Institute (SALI) as an excellent example of construction design at the annual South African Green Industries Council convention.
The SALI Awards, held on 4 June in Pretoria, recognise outstanding work in the design and construction industry.
At the awards, Marina Landscaping – appointed by the JDA to spearhead the Metro Park development – received a Gold Award of Excellence in the Landscape Construction with Design by Others category for outstanding design and development on the facility.
Metro Park, formerly a dumping site, is expected to play a huge role in improving the community’s lives by providing a safe and suitable recreational space.
The park sports a large amphitheatre, lawns, an outdoor gym, ablution facilities, extensive pathways, and an astroturf soccer field, and will be soon be open to the public.
