Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Finance in Joburg, Councillor Geoffrey Makhubo, will present a R32 billion City budget at the Joburg Theatre tomorrow, 27 May.<\/p>\n
The budget will rank as the biggest ever delivered by a South African municipality, cementing Joburg as a World Class African City and the economic hub of the continent.<\/p>\n
It is expected to give substance to the theme developed by Mayor Parks Tau during his State of the City Address of Joburg as a City at Work. The budget will include infrastructure spend for projects detailed in the Integrated Development Plan and the Growth and Development Strategy.<\/p>\n
MMC Makhubo speech will detail the City’s Capital Expenditure in the coming year, including the amount of money to be spent maintaining the City’s aging infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Of particular interest to business and households will be the rate of increase in water, electricity, refuse and sanitation costs.<\/p>\n
This increase will be partly offset by rebates for business and the elderly.<\/p>\n
