Brixton social cluster now under construction

The upgrading of Brixton Park by the Johannesburg Development Agency on behalf of the City of Johannesburg will ensure that the communities and neibouring areas of Brixton enjoy outdoor and social life to the fullest. The Brixton social cluster is located within the Empire Perth transport corridor which is anchored by the Phase 1B BRT route linking Soweto to Parktown. Large scale densification is envisioned along this route that will create an increased demand for public and social infrastructure.

The Great Walk Bridge

The Johannesburg Development Agency on behalf of the City of Johannesburg will deliver State Of The Art Bridge, The Great Walk Bridge for the communities in the Northern suburbs in particular for pedestrians in Alexandra, Sandton and surrounding neighborhoods. The bridge will ensure that walking from Alexandra to Sandton is feasible and encourages healthy lifestyle.

Non-motorised transport (NMT) project under construction - Westbury Development Renewal Precinct – NMT Phase 4

Westbury Development Renewal Precinct – Non Motorised Transport (NMT) project Phase 4 is underway. The Johannesburg Development agency on behalf of the City of Johannesburg is implementing this project, which is currently under construction by GPH Construction Pty Ltd. The project commenced in July 2017 and is expected to be completed by mid April 2018.

Announcing the 11 hosts for #JoziWalks2018 weekend, May 19-20

#JoziWalks is a series of sponsored walking tours initiated in 2017 by the JDA in partnership with a passionate group of local community activists, tourism entrepreneurs, walking tour operators and heritage specialists. #JoziWalks aims to get Joburgers onto the streets to walk and engage with neighbours and their local community, and to enable people to discover and share insights and ideas about the neighbourhoods they walk.

The implementation of - Watt Street Precinct project commences

The Watt Interchange project is scheduled to start in April 2018. The Johannesburg Development Agency’s on behalf of the City of Johannesburg will commence with the construction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, from Arkwright Avenue to Chadwick Avenue along Old Pretoria Road.

Call for proposals to host a #JoziWalks2018 sponsored walk

After a successful launch in June 2017, where over 300 people took part in free communityled walks in more than a dozen different Joburg neighbourhoods including Hillbrow, Orange Grove, Noordgesig, Diepsloot and Alexandra, Walk My Jozi is now back for a second year!

#JoziWalks is a series of JDA sponsored walking tours that was initiated with the purpose of giving voice to local communities and encouraging Joburgers to walk their neighbourhoods and create conversations about neighbourhood issues.
