The regenerated Milpark offers lucrative opportunities for a vibrant precinct catering to the various needs of patrons from the various organisations. This has also evidently given rise to concerns regarding urban management such as ease of access and movement, parking and cleanliness of the area.

Milpark Precinct is identified in the Empire-Perth Strategic Area Framework as a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) node, with potential to drive spatial transformation, job creation and residential densification.

The Johannesburg Development Agency(JDA)  through the City of Johannesburg, Citizens Relations and Urban Management is in consultation with stakeholders in the area intends to improve urban management issues such as; cleaning and maintenance of public infrastructure, waste management, parking management, Informal trading, safety and security and management of  Frank Brown Park.

The JDA is in the process of implementing non-motorised transit projects in the form of improved sidewalks, upgraded public open spaces including Frank Brown Park and a pedestrian bridge in the Milpark Precinct on behalf of the City of Johannesburg.

As part of the JDA’s engagement with local stakeholders, discussions are taking place regarding the establishment of a voluntary urban management initiative focused on safety and cleaning initiative and community development.

The JDA is looking forward to partnering with the community of Milpark Precinct towards the upgrade of the area said, Botes.
