NOMINATIONS open on 15 March 2011 and close on 18 April 2011.
Category details, definitions and criteria are available for all seven categories on this website, the City of Joburg website or in print form from the JDA offices reception:
No. 3 President Street The Bus Factory Newtown Johannesburg
Phase One
- Nominations open on 15 March 2011.
- The first step is to complete the 'Trigger' form which identifies your nominated project or person and the category in which you believe they deserve to be recognised. If you complete a hard or paper copy collected from the JDA offices, it must be faxed to 011 622 4988.
- Once the Trigger is received, the JDA Halala Joburg Awards support team will acknowledge receipt (via e-mail or SMS) and based on your motivation and basic criteria verification, such as location in the inner city, being met forward an application form for the specific category to the nominee.
- The category specific application forms must be returned to the JDA office reception as a printed document that provides all the information required. A register will be available and you are asked to please sign this and fill in the date and time that you delivered your application.
- Receipt of your application will be made via e-mail or SMS within three working days of receiving your completed application by the support team.
- Should any additional support materials be required by the adjudication panel, the support team will liaise with the nominee telephonically, or at a prearranged site meeting, regarding the nature, type and level of detail required.
- Please note that either the adjudication panel and / or the support team members may request a site visit to familiarise themselves with the project or verify information provided in the application. This will be prearranged at the convenience of all parties within the timeframe of the awards adjudication first phase.
Phase Two
- The second phase of adjudication will determine a shortlist of nominations in each category that will go through to the finals. This may again require a site visit which will be arranged at the convenience of all parties. The short listed entrants will be informed of their finalist status.
- Should your nomination be short listed you may be required to provide additional, detailed information not previously supplied that could include confidential information. This will remain within the adjudication panel and confidentiality will be observed. Again please note that support materials will not be returned and submission of original documents is not advised.
- Should you be short listed please note that you will be required to give a 10 minute presentation providing details of the nominated project or person to the Award Showcase Seminar and the adjudication panel, followed by a three minute open floor question and answer period.
- There must be no matter of material concern, such as pending litigation, financial, labour matters or any other issue, that the Adjudication Panel should be aware of, in considering a nominee as a finalist.
- Nominations close on 18 April 2011 and winners will be announced at the JDA Halala Joburg Awards Information Exchange Seminar.
