Advice from the adjudicators |
|

|
Our adjudication panels from the past two years of Halala Joburg Awards, together with our support team have some tips for successful entries.
- When completing your application form, remember that this is your chance to stand out from the crowd. The adjudicators have to read through many entries. You need to make sure that your entry grabs their attention and remains top of mind.
- It is essential that you provide all the information requested for the adjudicators to be able to accurately assess the merits of your entry.
- Read the application form, criteria and general rules and conditions before completing your entry. This will ensure that you answer the question that is being asked and not the question you think is being asked.
- Make sure that you allocate enough time to complete the application and that you have all of the details required on the application form available, for example your Company Registration or NPO number.
- Put yourself in the Adjudicator’s position and think through what you would need to know to best understand the project or individual achievement.
- The adjudicators are experts in their own field but may not be familiar with your sector or area of specialisation. Avoid jargon and unexplained acronyms.
- Stay on point, be succinct and do not waffle.
- Please provide actual, verifiable achievements in your application. If you cannot substantiate it, do not include it.
- The Halala Joburg Awards are open to a wide cross-section of projects, organisations and individuals, all of whom have varying levels of resources. The adjudicators are aware of this and applications are weighed in light thereof. However, when you have completed your entry please get it proofread for clarity and ensure that all the required information has been included.
- Good luck!
