Marking the gateway into Braamfontein, artist Clive van den Bergh’s massive concrete Eland in Bertha Street reminds residents of a time in Joburg’s history when San hunters dwelled in this area. The Eland is the largest antelope in the world, endemic to Africa and an iconic symbol of these ancient people. |
