Overview | Profile The area
The 420-hectare Nasrec focus area incorporates nationally and internationally significant economic activities. These include:
There is also a significant amount of vacant state-owned land suitable for new development. Due to its proximity to the city, Soweto and to other development initiatives of the City of Johannesburg, such as Kliptown, Baralink and the Soweto Development Initiative - the Nasrec area has yet to maximise its economic and job-creation potential. Its positioning on the City's Strategic Public Transport Network can only facilitate this growth. There is currently major investment in Nasrec's infrastructure, including a railway station situated on a spur between the FNB Stadium and Johannesburg Expo Centre, and a well-established road network that provides quick access to surrounding highways and airports such as the Johannesburg International, Grand Central, Rand and Lanseria. Bulk infrastructure (water, sewer, storm water), electrical, gas and telecommunications provisions are also present. |
