Why the JDA

The Johannesburg Development Agency plays an important role in the implementation of the city’s Growth and Development Strategy. As the City of Joburg’s Development Agency, the JDA is tasked with restructuring the space economy to give poor households better access to well-located accommodation, jobs and markets; optimise land use and energy consumption; and improve living standards and mobility for large numbers of people in well serviced and managed transit neighbourhoods.

Description: Execute all processes involved in the checking, validating and payment of invoices from suppliers to ensure that all payments are done accurately within the pre-determined time-frame.

Position: Development Manager

Description: The position reports to the Executive Manager: Development Implementation and serves as a member of the Senior Management team. The successful candidate will lead and take full responsibility for the design and implementation of all JDA’s development projects within a portfolio to ensure that all the projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards, as well as develop and implement cross-cutting systems and procedures. He/she will identify and manage all risks associated with development implementation and will ensure efficient handover of all development projects to clients and stakeholders.

The JDA’s Employment Equity Policy and Plan aims to advance and protect previously disadvantaged individuals by providing opportunities for career advancement, growth, training and development. The Executive Committee and Human Resources and Remuneration Committee provide regular input into the organisation’s employment equity, practices strategies direction and initiatives.

The JDA plans its annual employment equity targets in terms of its Employment Equity Policy and reports to the Department of Labour in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Equity Act and within legislated timeframes.
